It’s found in the City of Poway California the terrain on this particular trail is moderate to strenuous hike. Dogs are allowed and it’s about 7.5 miles round trip form beginning to end. The trails are well maintained, and the views once up in the top are breathtaking. This place has a very famous landmark called the Potato Chip Rock, this spot has become a very popular place to take pictures, at times can be a bit crowded, there is no specific days that will have less people than others, so if you have a chance to get all the way to the Potato Rock and is easy to take your picture do so but is for any reason you could not then the views and area alone are fantastic and beautiful!
From San Diego, take the I-15 north and exit at Twin Peaks Road, turning right. Follow Twin Peaks to Espola Road and make a left. Just past Poway High School, make a right into the Lake Poway parking lot and concession area. Park near the concession stand after paying the fee. From North County and beyond, take the I-15 south and exit at Rancho Bernardo Rd, turning left off of the freeway. Rancho Bernardo becomes Espola Road, which will bend to the right. Just past Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, take the left turn into the Lake Poway parking lot and concession area. Park near the concession stand after paying the fee .
The trail condition is always well maintained and Dog friendly! your dog will love the trail and the views are amazing. So what are you waiting for ? Take a shot and come and see the potato chip rock.
This trail is moderate and has fantastic views of San Diego, this trail is located in San Diego close to Santee & La Mesa, what you see is beautiful from the north, east and south. This trail is know to be very crowded the majority of the time but the hike is an easy one. On a very clear day you can see views of Mexico and Downtown San Diego , the trail is about 4 miles it can take you around 3 hours to hike it.
From Downtown: Take I-8 East to Highway 125 North. Exit at Mission Gorge Road, and turn left. Turn left onto Big Rock Road and follow it to the end of the road for the trailhead. From everything north of Highway 52, take Highway 52 to Mission Gorge Road and turn right. Turn left onto Big Rock Road, and follow it to the end of the road for the trailhead.
Just so you know the trail can get a bit hart to do at the beginning but as you continue you will begin to see that it is well care for and maintained. The trail is easily accessible to all and you can reach it from many areas. The trail is contained within the Mission trails Regional park which is the 6th largest municipally park in U.S.A. Mission trails is a very well know trail in San Diego this park is dog friendly and can be crowded at time. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the hike.
Cuyamaca Rancho State Park has several beautiful trails for hikers to chose from. With that said you can find the trails to be meadows, woodlands and waterfalls. One of the must popular trails is the Cuyamaca peak second highest in San Diego California on this trail which is about 6 miles, you will find the rewarded with the spectacular views.
Nature is at it’s best when looking at the surroundings on this beautiful place, take the time to look around and enjoy everything. The mountains, the flowers, the planes and much more.
The night views are amazing and the hikes are fantastic.
From Julian, head south on Highway 79, past the lake and into Paso Picacho Campground. Walk through the campground to the cabins in the back. Find the trailhead there. From San Diego, take Interstate 8 and exit at Highway 79 for Descanso and Julian. Turn left, and follow the road until the junction with Highway 80. Bear left, and continue on 79 until reaching Paso Picacho Campground. Park, then walk through the campground to the cabins in the back. Find the trailhead there.
The night hikes are beautiful you can see so much stars on a clear night. Hiking is great and it is a bit heavy for the knees but hike is worth it. Paved roads and wild life are part of this vast landscape, once on the top you will be able to admire the beautiful mountains and peaks of San Diego .
